Sigrid Vestergaard Frandsen
At Daniels Philanthropies, Sigrid Vestergaard Frandsen leads research and publishes articles about the critical links between environmental conditions and human health. Her work focuses on how climate factors—particularly extreme heat—directly affect well-being and equity in communities around the world through evidence-based reporting and public communication. Sigrid aims to translate complex science into actionable insights that can drive change.
She has a background in climate and human rights research and Arctic exploration, specializing in methane emissions, human rights and the concept of slow violence - with expertise in remote sensing and field research. Sigrid has conducted research in extreme environments, from glaciers in the Arctic to the tropics of Africa, collaborating with scientists, local sustainability advocates and Indigenous leaders.
Additionally, Sigrid became a Fellow of The Explorers Club in November 2024 for the work and research she has done on the impact of methane emissions on Indigenous health in the Arctic, and the work she has done as a park ranger in Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland. Here, she experienced first-hand the effects of our changing climate while protecting Europe’s biggest glacier.
